Hardware Service:
Handicomp is not a hardware service company and will not repair broken or damaged
computer equipment. It is important for all users to have their entire system protected
through additional hardware securities such as a manufacturer's warranty, hardware
service contract or insurance.
- Manufacturer's Warranty - generally covers
hardware failure in the course of normal operation and usually is in effect for
1-5 years after purchase. It rarely covers natural disasters such as lightning strikes.
Additionally, most manufacturer's warranties require the repair occur at the manufacturer's
service facility.
- Hardware Service Contract- a contract
with an authorized service vendor which typically guarantees same day on-site responses
to equipment failure. This supplementary protection of the equipment warranty is
typically provided by a local hardware service organization.
- Commercial Insurance
- natural disasters such as lightning strikes, floods, and fires are not covered
by hardware warranties or service contracts. However, they can be covered under
commercial insurance policies, or, as riders to such policies.

Peripherals:
Power Protection:
- Server systems should always be attached to a battery backup power supply. Handicomp
recommends that all systems be minimally attached to a power strip with surge suppression
capabilities.
Printers:
- Handicomp supports laser printers that conform to the PCL printer specification
and cannot guarantee compatibilty with "host based" laser printers.
- HP Inkjet printers generally work well, but, they are much slower and are not consistent
from model to model.
- Epson 24 pin compatible dot matrix printers are fully supported throughout the Handicomp
software suite systems.
- Handicomp cannot guarantee compatibility with all-in-one printing solutions.
Data Backup:
- Zip, Jazz, Rev, tape and flash drives along with other
removable storage devices are great ways to back up and retrieve data quickly and
efficiently.
- Floppy Disks are rarely if ever used as backup devices because of their limited
capacities.
Communications:
- Telephone modems are a minimum requirement (broadband recommended)
for electronic software upgrades and remote access to your systems if the need arises.
A third party software product such as PC Anywhere may be necessary for remote file
transfer.
